… I will sell insurance anyway because in spite of its importance, many remain uninsured. Key reason? They don’t understand it.

To many, I am known as a personal financial wellness advocate. I am an author of 3 books on the subject and have successfully coached clients for 500+ hours on varied topics in personal finance.
Insurance plays an important part in anyone’s financial wellbeing. I will give a personal example: my father worked for a local university for literally his whole career, I might add, with success. He retired a home owner and had seen my siblings and I through school. He now relies on government pension. Is it enough? Hardly.
I have had clients who were heavily in debt. Reason, they did not have some cash put away in near cash investments to cover emergencies. Emergencies arose and they had to take emergency loans. Others because they had no medical cover. Medical bills drove them to their knees. Others were inadequately covered, case in point, one lacked personal cover and their car rammed onto another… they thought that their comprehensive vehicle cover could cover their injury. Wrong! Another lacked professional indemnity that got them sued for lots of cash!
Some got insured ‘wrong’ and they wanted out leaving with only a fraction of their premiums paid.
Could they all have avoided this? Absolutely! Had they known.
